FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
What kind of assembly is Pillar of Faith?
Pillar of Faith is a Hebrew apostolic congregation of the ancient Bible Israelite type. This means we are Hebrew in our identity or know who we really are and apostolic in our belief and practice as we believe the doctrine or teachings of the apostles and disciples of Yahuah Yahusha Messiah that He commanded them to preach and teach after His death, burial and resurrection.
We worship after the manner and example of the disciples on the day of Pentecost “exuberantly”. We clap, we sing, we run, we dance and we praise Yah with all of our heart. This way of worship is sometimes referred to by those who are jealous of our worship style as “happy-clappy”. Wouldn’t you rather be happy and clappy than miserable and quiet? So we encourage you to be happy and make a joyful noise with us as the Bible teaches.
What is the vision of Pillar of Faith?
Our vision is one of restoration and revival. Pillar of Faith is tasked to, “Restore the apostolic pattern to the end-time Assembly”. Our mission is to, “Take the whole gospel to the whole of East London and beyond”.

We do have a small parking area outside of the meeting place but this is subject to control at times.
What is appropriate to wear to Assembly?
At Pillar of Faith we welcome you as you are. People dress in a variety of ways – some casual, others professional and yet others traditional. Clean and tidy is the preferred standard, but don’t let your dress code keep you out of assembly. Come just as you are, and Yah will make any changes for the better as He sees fit over time.

How do I become a member of Pillar of Faith?
Firstly you do not have to be a member of Pillar of Faith to attend. Secondly anyone who is baptised/ immersed in POF automatically becomes an associate member. Having said that, our commitment to you as attenders or associate members is that we encourage you to know Yahusha Messiah for yourself and to grow in your relationship with Him. The goal here is that you become baptised/ immersed in the name of Yahusha Messiah, filled with the Holy Ghost {Ruach) and live a life that is holy/ separated and pleasing to Him.
We want you to tap into Yah’s purpose for your life so that you will be able to live an abundant and fulfilled life in Messiah Yahusha and complete your life’s mission without regret. In return we expect you to be committed to our congregation's vision and mission, to be involved in at least one ministry, and to demonstrate good financial stewardship by giving financially to support Yah’s work in Pillar of Faith.
What if I want to transfer from another group?
Make an appointment to talk to the pastor through Sis. Susan. In that meeting you will be asked to give your reason and a decision as to if you require a transfer letter or not will be made. Each situation is dealt with on a case by case basis. If you come from a congregation known to the Pastor, some more in-depth conversation may be required as opposed to one not known to us.
What if I don’t agree with what you teach and preach?
What we believe is not a secret as its displayed in the what we believe section on our website click here. You will find upon inspection that our teaching is firmly based on what Yah’s Word says in the Bible and we certainly hope that all who examine it will agree with and embrace it. However we know the world is not like that and not everyone will agree with everything at the same time.
So all we ask is that you respect what we believe, even if you do not agree. What we mean by “respect” is that you will allow us to teach our beliefs without opposing us or teaching contrary or opposing doctrine within congregation. Though we are willing to debate and discuss doctrinal issues, the Bible must always be our start and finish point for settling all controversy.
We are willing and eager to discuss doctrinal issues in the proper manner with everyone who attends Pillar of Faith, but in the case where you do not believe as we do and cannot accept what we teach and preach we suggest that for the sake of unity and in order to facilitate proper Israelite behaviour and relationship that it would be best for you to attend elsewhere and submit yourself to the kind of pastoral authority that will allow you to both behave and express yourself appropriately in the freedom of your conscience.

I have children, do you have any activities for them?
We are passionate about children and young people and believe in their potential. We offer safe activities and programmes for your children ranging from primary school age and commensurate with our size as a small assembly. Currently we have Hebrew education classes for children aged 3-13 and are working on youth classes from age 15-25. We are also working towards a youth group of the same age group.
What Bible version do you use?
The version of the Bible most commonly used in Pillar of Faith is the King James Authorised version, King James 1611 and Eth Cepher Bible, however you can use whatever version you feel most comfortable with until we have that conversation.
Is it ok to bring my children into the worship service?
Yes we understand that some children may find it difficult to leave their parents in unfamiliar circumstances, so Hebrew education/ Shabbat classes may not be appropriate for every child at a young age. However we still encourage you to encourage your children to attend these classes as they are designed with their needs in mind.
What should I do if my baby cries in the middle of the service?
Don’t worry! We are a family assembly and don’t mind noise. You are welcome to keep your baby in the service, or go to the back, but if you would benefit from some space to settle and care for your baby, we have a room to meet his/her needs. Further to this, we have a place online that you will usually be able to catch up on the message.
Where does Pillar of Faith get its funding from?
We are not supported by a denomination or any other outside entity. Our budget is funded entirely through the giving of the people who attend our Assembly and some gifts from those outside the ministry that are blessed by our ministry and give donations online. Our Assembly operates a debt-free policy meaning we do not borrow to achieve our financial objectives.
How much should I give?
If you are a guest, you do not have to give anything unless you want to. However for our regular Believers, attenders and members, the Old Testament required Yah’s people to give 10% of their income (a tithe or tenth) and most congregations around the world would expect something like that level of commitment. Beyond this Yah’s people give an offering and in the New Testament this is not mandated - it is matter of free will/ freedom – so we can give less or more as an expression of our gratitude to Yah as in an offering.
Does your location facilitate easy disabled access?
Yes, the access to the building is flat, with wide doors and disabled toilet facilities.
What if I want to get baptised/ immersed, married, bury a loved one or bless a baby?
Why not speak to Sis Susan and ask for an appointment to meet with the pastor or one of the leaders to see if you can agree how the congregation can best support you with such an event.
